    Chronic back pain

I am 55 years old who is suffering chronic back pain for years (8). I went many times to see my PCP and I would be sometimes prescribed muscle relaxant and couple of times I received intra muscular injection of ketorolac and always told to get Ibuprofen OTC and could take up to 600 mg in one dose. It helps for few weeks to few months and it comes back. Just recently, my pcp recommended to see ortho spine specialist which I did a week ago.
At specialist visit, xrays were taken of entire spine. Was told that my xrays look way worse then I am . Radiological reading says I have advanced DDD thruout entile spine, some ossification with osteophits formation and also spontaneous fusion at multiple levels.
I also have advanced kyphosis which measures 83 degrees in my thoracic spine and lumbar lordosis. Also my head is tilted way forward.
I was not even asked about pain and physical limitations, just straight forward told “ I have to live with it”.
I was referred to physical therapy which I am starting tomorrow.
I am wondering when is surgery necessary to do some corrections on the spine. Surgery would be last I want, but kyphosis of 83 degrees will need some intervention sooner or later. If that is the case, I would rather deal with it at 55 years then at 70.
Any thoughts and personal experiences with kyphosis and what was done to elevate back pain.
    Thanks.
    Marco
