Tingling or numbness in adjacent dermatome?

Iím just wondering how many of you that have experienced shingles had numbness or tingling on your skin adjacent to an existing rash (dermatome). Is this normal or is this a sign that my rash may continue and spread to the next area up?

My rash started on Saturday and I went on an antiviral on Monday. First time Iíve had shingles. Itís on my left butt (sacral dematome) but Iím experiencing tingling and numbness (feels sensitive) on the left side of my belly (lumbar dermatome). Iíve had lower back pain thatís been bugging me, as well. So maybe the tingling is due to a reaction and inflammation in that part of the spine? Or possibly a reaction to the antiviral? Any similar experiences? Thoughts?
