Right side pain

I have been having right side pain in rib area for quite sometime - I have had gallbladder ultrasound - showed no stones - hida scan - 48% ejection rate - normal. I don't understand what is causing this along with nausea - nausea on and off for several months - but most everyday. When I had my hida scan 2 weeks ago the tech said I had one in 2007 for upper right quadrant pain. I don't even remember that but I am so tired of this hurting - the doctor says he just don't see anything - I even had an endoscopy in January. I am wondering if an MRI would show anything - I am allergic to contrast so it would have to be without,. I am just tired of feeling like this everyday!

Re: Right side pain

MRI is usually not used for GB pain... an ultrasound is or a CT scan.

I had mine out last April and I had neither stones or long term symptoms...when they did the ultrasound they saw so much sludge (which is the precursor to stones) and it was so inflammed, they took it out.

Maybe find another GI doctor to get an opinion? It was the surgeon who I went to see who actually told me that if I didnt get it out right then, it would only get worse...he had no problem taking it out.

Good luck!

Re: Right side pain

I had the Gallbladder ultrasound - it didn't show anything - so a scan is what is needed then? Everything has been normal so far - I think what if they take out my gallbladder and I still have this pain and nausea???

Re: Right side pain

a CT scan may show more...but your HIDA can change from month to month too...have it repeated in another month...its not abnormal now; but if it is your GB, it will either get higher or lower, both could mean GB disease.
