Re: liposuction

Liposuction is only performed on obese patients. It is a highly specialized procedure usually done by bariatric surgeons or plastic surgeons who have a specialty in bariatric procedures. One cannot have lipo if one is not healthy enough to undergo anesthesia- such as if one has a heart condition which is not controlled. High blood pressure could be another issue which needs to be safely controlled before surgery.

It is very expensive and insurance does not usually cover it as it is a cosmetic procedure. Other weight loss surgeries are equally as risky, but can be covered by insurance including gastric sleeves and bariatric weight loss surgeries.

I hope that helps.

Re: liposuction

Lipo can be done on non-obese people but it is a regular surgical procedure. I have several friends who had it done back in the day that were "pudgy" but not obese. However, from what I hear, cool sculpting seems to be the method du jour. Non invasive and no recovery period. I've not had either so can't say from personal experience...this is just from the experiences of friends.
