Dry Sinus Infection? Mystery, can you help?

I had bronchitis in the middle of March. The doctor prescribed Amoxicillin for the first few days and it didn't work, so he prescribed Doxycycline for it. I slowly got over it with some sinus issues, Then on April 3rd, I noticed that my nose got really, really dry. Then my soft palate was swollen. It was so uncomfortable! I went back to the doctor and he prescribed Prednisone for 5 days and Nasonex. I used it, and it helped a little but I still had infection. So I went to the ENT and he found pus in my sinus so he prescribed Levaquin and told me I have a little thrush so prescribed something for that. Meanwhile, I take the Levaquin and have a CT scan and it comes out completely clear. I am still having symptoms of a sinus infection and really dry nose and swollen soft palate. Also, my mouth is burning like crazy. I got some Nystatin for thrush and noticed that my right sinus started to drain a little after I used it. Here I am in May and I am still having a very dry nose with a host of other symptoms including burning mouth (not as bad), swollen soft palate with little bumps, my eyes hurt and feel like I have an infection, I have bags around them and they burn and a little tingly above them sometimes., Also my glands are swollen in my neck, my neck hurts, I have a chemical smell in my nose and it feels cold-like, I am really tired at night and I am having night sweats. My brother told me it could be fungal, I am at a loss and can't figure it out. I am going to a sinus specialist at a teaching hospital on Monday because my ENT can't figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas? Or have you had something like this? Can it be candida related? Thank you for your help! I am going crazy!

I wish that was it! That I am just worrying. It is very hard to get good sleep when you can't breathe very well. Some nights I do and others I don't. I am a very active person, I exercise every day. No, I haven't during this because I have not felt well. The biggest problem is I can't go to work because I travel for a living. My job is very hard on your body and airplane air is only 2% humidity. Also, I failed to mention that my dad kind of unexpectedly passed away on March 2 and we had to put my mom in assisted living, she has frontal lobe dementia. So I have been under a tremendous amount of stress. I am not a sickly person, I just want to get back to my normal life. I feel as though it will help with the grieving process. Also, I don't know about you all but I found that doctors just don't seem to really care anymore, it is kind of like get you in and out.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like I was saying it was just worrying.

Oh, maybe I didn't explain it very well. I have only been to two doctors one who is my primary and an ENT. The ENT has sent me to his friend at a teaching hospital. He has told me that he can't figure out 1 out of 100 people. And I am that 1. So, I really haven't jumped around to different doctors. I guess I am getting desperate because I have been out of commission since March 16, because I can't fly with a sinus problem. I really love my job and I want to go back. I think it will help with the grieving process as well. Yes, I have been on too many medicines! The funny thing is, I hate medication and will do anything to avoid it. I think candida has been part of my problem. I am taking care of that naturally. I have noticed some changes in the last couple of days, I think it may slowly be getting better. I have never experienced a sickness this intense or this long, so yes I have been very stressed! Especially because this week, I will need to go on medical leave because I am out of sick days at work. We have recently merged, things are different and I would hate to lose my job after 31 years!

UPDATE:: I think I figured out what has caused this after my father in law, who is a surgeon suggested that this sounded like an allergic reaction to something. I racked my brain trying to figure it out and I think maybe I have. I bought a Purmist steamer in Early April and I have been using it every day. Sometimes I would notice a little mold in the corners of the mask. I am highly allergic to mold and I think I have been blowing it into my sinuses for a while now. I stopped using it last Tuesday and although I am not better, I am starting to feel things in my head changing and a lot of drainage. I really hope my theory is right!

Did you ever really find out what this is? I have been stuggling with an illness & the ent's that I have gone to are not able to figure it out.

Re: Dry Sinus Infection? Mystery, can you help?

I wish I could say this was completely gone, but it is not. Here it is almost a year later and many of thousands of dollars later. I have run from Doctor to Doctor trying to figure this out. While I am better, I am not healed. It turned out to be two things and I am not sure which came first or if one caused the other. But I had two very infected molars that had both had previous root canals on them . The roots were severed, infected and in my sinus cavity. The other problem which I either picked up at the hospital or from the Purmist is I had Pseudomonas Aeruginosa in my sinuses also. I had the last tooth removed on November 12 and it was very infected and way up in my head. I still feel very swollen. And my nose is still messed up. This has been the year from hell and I struggle daily just to make it through the day. I hope this helps!

What did your symptoms originate or start as again? Like very specific, please?
