    Fungal Sinus Infection?

I have been battling a nasty sinus infection for months now. I have had two ct scans that have come out clear and a bacterial swab that came out negative. I had a fungal test a week ago and won't get the results for another week. My nose inside is crusty, red and swollen turbinates. My eyes have big bags under them. The roof of my mouth is sore, upper front teeth are sore and my neck aches. I feel sick. This started after a bout of bronchitis and many different antibiotics, systemic steroids and nasal steroids. Could I possibly have got this from all the medication? Like candida overgrowth? My doctor said this has gone on long enough and put me on Diflucan. I am on day 8 with that and I have seen some improvement, it isn't gone. On Saturday, I started an anti-fungal nose nebulator from a place called Sinus Dynamics. Has anyone ever tried that? Also, I had thrush and I am not sure it ever went away. The roof of my mouth is yellow and I have red spots on it. Has anyone ever had anything like this? Does it sound fungal? I am really at the end of my rope with this, it has turned my life upside down. It started in March.

    Hi

Inside my nostrils as far as I can see it is white and swollen. Thrush on tongue. Constant congested nose, headaches for 5 weeks plus . Ears burning. Upper jaw /tooth ache. The only symptoms that have eased in 5 weeks is pressure behind eyes although I do have bags under the eyes and slightly swollen. Constant pnd. I've missed out on going out (a social life) for 5 weeks and missing my nephews christening this weekend. It really is depressing. I'm from UK and the weather is awful as usual, dry then wet, warm then chilli.

Hi Richard, I have had this now for almost 4 months with no relief in sight. I have been from doctor to doctor and now my fungal test has come out negative. Although, when I do steroid nose spray or take steroids it inflames it. I know you are not supposed to take steroids with a fungal infection. I am at my wits end and have thought about ending my life over this. I am usually such a strong and happy person, but this has been going on too long with no answers and no sign of going away. How are you doing?

steroid sprays can cause irritation to the nasal passages, if its used imporperly. Sounds like you have chronic sinusitis, can be cause by infection or allergies. hAVE YOU been tested for allergies, and to see if you have deviated nasal septum.
