    Chronic sinusitis?

I was hoping that someone could shed some light on this as I feel I am at my wit's end. I've been struggling with what I now feel has been episodes of acute sinusitis for the last 5 years or so. (I did have a ct done about 5 years ago after a severe cold and it indicated I had maxillary sinusitis.) It would begin abruptly with a feeling or tightness or fullness in my right jaw and neck, some right side intermittent ear discomfort and general feeling of not feeling great. I'd have some sinus congestion but nothing really to speak of. I'd have a couple episodes of this per year, maybe in the winter and summer, go to my ent who said everything looked ok and send me on my way with directions to take Flonase. I've been using Flonase off and on since then. My symptoms would disappear after about a month as quickly as they appeared, not really coinciding with anything. I also have had allergy testing which indicated I have no allergies. Fast forward to last summer...same thing happened abruptly only this time, I had a disconnected feeling, and a pressure on the right side of my head. My right neck, both the side and back and bone behind my ear were so sore and stiff, nothing would help it. I started my regimin of Flonase 2x per day steam inhalation with eucalyptus and nasal irrigation with saline and hot compresses over my maxillary I would also take ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation to no avail. I ended up going to my ent again and he put me on the Medrol dose pack and a 10 day course of augmentin. Didn't work at all. He then sent me for ct scan of sinuses which revealed a 2.5 cm cyst on the floor of my right maxillary. Finally! I thought but I thought I wrong. Dr said it wasn't causing my pain. I was so disappointed to say the least. My symptoms subsided for about a month but came back this winter. Had the nasty winter cold again and continued to do my rinsing and such. Symptoms got worse. Dr put me on another course of augmentin and Medrol...no luck. Saw him said everything looked good, showed me my scan and reassured me it was a cyst and it wasn't the cause of my issues. I left feeling better but only for a day. It's amazing what adrenaline does to you. I started taking Zyrtec for a few days. Thought it helped but then it didn't. My really big concern is I now have globs of blood coming out of my nose. It's not from my nasal passage but I feel from my sinus. I feel pressure, I rinse, globs of blood come out and so on. It's a vicious circle. I have another appointment on Tuesday. Is this an infection gone awry?? If someone has experienced similar issues, please chime in. If nothing else, misery loves company. Thanks in advance.

    Re: Chronic sinusitis?

I spent thousands of $$ going to the doctor, thousands going to the dentist when I had sinus issues. I got to the point where I could barely get out of bed, I couldn't work and my headaches were so bad that I was buying painkillers from drug dealers just to get by. Not only did I suffer but my family (husband and son) also suffered as I was unable to do anything. I was at the end of my tether when a friend suggested I go and see a healer, I though she was crazy, why would I go see some crazy person who thinks that they can fix you with their hands? But then I realised i had no other option but to try it. That was 4months ago, I am now working full time, I am off all pain killers and I am the happiest I have ever been. My sinus issuses have gone and so have my headaches and sore teeth. If you have tried everything and you have gotten no where or worse, just do it, go see a healer, what have you got to loose? Its worth a try.

What an idiot doctor you have. It's the cyst. See another ENT. A friend just had one drained Thursday. It was the cause of her problems.

    Re: Chronic sinusitis?

Thank you both for your responses. I went to a sinus specialist who scanned me again. All sinuses completely clear of any infection, inflammation or thickening except for the maxillary sinus cyst which remained about the same size. He said same thing...isn't causing my problems and referred me to head and facial pain clinic and also suggested acupuncture. The blood from the sinus has lessened however my ear is now causing me a lot of discomfort on a more consistent basis as well as a lot of neck pain. I walked away feeling defeated. I agree with you Titchou...I think it's the cyst. I plan on getting another opinion however also thought about acupuncture. I certainly want to get to the bottom of this. The pain clinic is only a bandaid and I definitely don't want to take pain killers. Anyway thanks again. I appreciate the advice you both offered.
