| sinus infection
I was taking antibotics for a couple of weeks because of supposedly i
had a sinus infection (according to my dentist).
well I finished taking my antibotics for 2 weeks being on it, well my pain went away for about a week but now yesterday the pain
came back again. Here i thought that by taking antibotics that it would
cause the infection to go away?
I feel mucus down my throat so my sinus infection must of came back.
I have never had this happen to me before, what will make a sinus infection
go away and not come back???
I have enough to deal with, with my nerve pain that is in my upper abdomen,
I don't need to deal with another chronic pain issue.
Anyone know what can be done to make the sinus infection go away and not
come back?? Or do i have to be back on antibotics??
oh i hope that i don't have to be on it everyday for the rest of my life UGH!

Kim | Hi Kim,
It's possible it could be an allergy instead of a sinus infection. I had them off and on for years and they finally found out it was allergies. You might want to ask for a blood test (I think it called a RAST test) to see if you could possibly have some type of allergy that is causing your symptoms. Some allergies do mimic an infection and can sometimes react the same way to antibodics as an infection would, but as soon as the med is out of your system, then the symptoms return again within a day or two or maybe within a few hours. Sinus infections can be pretty nasty on their own as well and sometimes can take a few weeks to clear up. Do you get a lot of face pressure with the infection or just mainly drainage and a sore throat? If you get lots of pressure, then it is most like sinus related, but if no pressure, then it could possibly be allergy related. You can always ask for the test, if you think it could be allergies.
Let us know if you find anything out about it.
Ang

My son has had terrible sinus trouble this winter, one after the other, been on 3 6week rounds of antibiotics and finally it seems to have calmed down. His pediatrician said it's been from such a brutally cold dry winter. Who knows...the allergy thought is a good one. It's very possible that that is the culprit. Either way, hang in there, they are miserable! Love, Surgical Disaster

I had a sinus infection last year that I had a hard time getting rid of. There are different kinds of antibiotics, some stronger than others. I was on the first one for 2 weeks and still had the infection. He gave me something else and that took care of it. If you have even a little bit of infection it will come back. It may feel better but it's still there. That may be what happened to you.

HI everyone,
Well I saw my doctor and he said that i do indeed have a sinus
infection (alot of mucus down my throat,etc...)
so he gave me a stronger antibotics it says on the bottle
antibotics/acid/pencillian/
I guess like some of you said that it went away but then it came
back, so hopefully being on a much stronger antibotic will do the trick.
Oh and also my doctor gave me a medicine to take for allergies
(it's one of those that you spray up your nose)
he told me to try that for a month also.
So we'll see if this all will do the trick. Thanks for your replies! :-) Kim

I had a sinus infection for 2 months.I never had any congestion or any drainage but a mri showed a sinus infection. It took 4 rounds of antibiotics to finally get over it.I had such terrible headaches and my sinuses hurt so bad at times I couldn't stand it.I have never had one this bad b4.Sometimes it just takes a while to get over things.

I hope in a week you'll be all cleared up and feeling much better. You've got enough going on without adding that too it. You take care and don't miss any of your doses of the meds so you can get over that, hopefully for good this time. I'll be praying for you!
Hugs,
Ang
