    Question sinus problems!!!!

Hi all, Ive been having troubles for over a year now with no diagnosis. Im always told depression or stressed out. Im sooooo tired of hearing that. Im 31 and had a partial hysterectomy 6 yrs ago. Only have tubes and ovaries left. Both ovaries have cysts. I was wondering how many suffer with chronic sinus congestion, headaches. My sinuses dont seem to function properly. That is how my story started sinus probs, fatigue, headaches, shakes, nausea, etc. I have had sinus surgery last year with no improvement. All my docs say nothing is wrong. my symptoms seem to keep adding ,am I crazy ???have any of you suffered with this as a main symptom? I feel horrible and angry that im told its all in my head your to young. Any advice or encouragement would greatly be appreciated. Thank you all for sharing your stories.

    Re: sinus problems!!!!

I don't know if what you have relates to peri or not...but havng said that, people can develop allergies as they get older.
I never had pollen allergies but when I hit 40, Birch trees became my mortal enemy
I also developed cat allergies and ragweed. The cat seems to only affect my skin (hives when I pet her) and ragweed has not bothered me though they say I do have allergies to it and it is just a matter of time.

I don't think allergy development and peri are related because they have found the same thing in men...so maybe it is just aging in general.
If you have developed an allergy to mold or dust or something that is around all the time, this could easily be aggrevating your sinuses. Allergies can reeeaally drain you...crushing fatigue, feeling like you're "coming down" with something...your body is fighting an imaginary invader and it is tiring for it.

Hope you figure out what it is soon and get better!!

    Hi daweazel,
Women who often have a hysterectomy go thru meno earlier so you might be experiencing signs of peri-meno. I would assume you're on a HRT? I've read pre-existing conditions, such as allergies, intensify when you go thru peri-meno, but then again it could just be plain allergies. I used to get sinus headaches whenever I'm about to get my period. I also used to all have this congestion which would make me cough and I would only feel better if I cough up the phlegm. When I was going thru my 'worse' peri-meno period last year, I thought I had the sinus headaches and would be popping anything and everything to relieve it but only to find it didn't help at all. Have you seen a Nose, Throat, Ear specialist? I went to one and that's when I found out I was allergic to 4 food groups. Sometimes it could be food allergies instead of environmental stuff.

    Re: sinus problems!!!!

I have never had sinus problems before and I am not on hrt. I was told as long as i kept my ovaries things should be fine. My new ent believes it to be allergic allergies, she also thinks something is causing these problems cause I never suffered before. I have taken every antibiotic under the sun along with nasal sprays with no help, if anything they make me feel worse. dr. believed it was thyroid but it came back fine. thanks for your replies I feel better just talking about it. hopefully I will be able to find a reason for all this soon.

    symptoms:
    chronic headaches, sinus migraine
    fatigue
    facial flushing
    dizziness
    nausea
    cold feet and hands
    bladder problems { ever since hysterectomy}
    shakes
    just feel plain crappy!!!!!

    Re: sinus problems!!!!

    Hi,

I have had sinus problems on and off over the years and that is how my allergies manifest themselves...sinus pressure and my ears feeling plugged. I did get tested for allergies years ago and they only came up with dust as what I was allergic to. I suspect it might be more now. There is more dust in the air in the colder months they said and that is why I was feeling more of it in the winter as opposed to the other times of year.

I do notice that in peri that again right before my period I get a sinus headache type of thing and it is over one area on the left, near the bridge of nose and eye. It is weird as it always is in the same place and within a day or two my period arrives!! I get this other times too (sinus pressure) but it is not localized usually like that and my ears are involved.

    Re: sinus problems!!!!

I suffer from chronic sinus problems, and I'm well into perimenopause. I experience dizziness, sinus headaches, fatigue, anxiety (shakiness) night sweats etc. I honestly think that all these symptoms are a combination of sinus problems and perimenopause. It's sometimes hard to distinguish between the two. Is the sinus problem causing me to feel dizzy and tired or is it that my hormones are out of whack due to the perimenopause? I've heard many women complain of anxiety and feeling shakey....due to perimenopause. One thing I am sure of...it's NOT all in your head.....

I'm seeing an endocronologist next week, and after that an ear nose and throat specialist for the sinus problems. I try and help myself as best I can by drinking a LOT of water, exercising (that is hard because I'm always tired) and eating a healthy diet low in sugar and caffiene. Lots of fruit and veggies. Take a good multi-vitamin and calcium supplements. I'm trying to keep it natural!
