    Re: Sinus problems

You need to see an ENT who will not have to be asked to scan your sinuses!

Well, my ENT never scanned my sinuses. He took my history, and then confirmed what my allergist said. I had a deviated septum. He scheduled surgery. It really does sound like you have allergies. I get the same headaches when my allergies are bad. You can develop allergies to anything at any time in your life. You really need to get a second opinion.

wow, that is different. You know getting a CTscan just helps them see what is going on up in the sinuses when they can't see up that far.

I had two CTscans but interestling enough my second surgery my doctor when up to try and open the frontal sinuses and saw I had a deviated septum, but never saw it on the CTscan, so go figure.

I do think though a CTscan should be ordered when something isn't right and the patient knows it.

I totally agree. I think you, Tr1ckownz, should get a second opinion. You have that right and most insurance companies agree. All of my doctors could see my deviated septum as it was low in my nose. Please let us know what your CT scan says.

    Re: Sinus problems

    Hi Tr1ckownz,
My deviated septum kept the right side of my nose always congested; I snored, quite bad and loud according to my sweet hubby; I had sleep apnea, which really scared my hubby because he was always waking me up to breathe; I had very few dreams and when I did, they were really bad night terrors which woke up my sweet hubby because of my screaming; I was extremely tired all the time, even after 10 or 12 hours of sleep; and I had migraine headaches for 30 years, which started after I broke my nose, I might add. I had sinus infections with a deviated septum and I just finished a course of antibiotics for one. I also have congestion and post nasal drip and sinus pain and pressure and sinus headaches before septoplasty and I still have them now. The only difference is I can definitely tell what a sinus headache is and what a migraine is, which I haven't had since surgery, 12 weeks! I hope I never have another migraine again! The right side of my nose is now clear, unless my allergies are acting up, then the congestion switches sides; I haven't had any night terrors; I dream, lots of dreams each night; I feel rested and refreshed when I wake up; I don't snore any more, according to sweet hubby; and I haven't had any sleep apnea since the septoplasty! When the air quality is bad, my allergies are worse and the congestion, post nasal drip and itchy eyes start. I even irrigate my nose with Alkalol so much that I need to buy stock! Lol!! I hope this helps. You really should get a second opinion by another ENT from a different office.

    Re: Sinus problems

Well my nose was already straight so, I'm not sure if it will straighten it. My septoplasty was done on the inside of my nose and I had no visible signs that I had surgery on my face. There wasn't even any swelling! I had rhinoplasty to repair the broken bones in my nose when I had my accident 30 years ago. That's what straightened nose out.
