Question about Sinus headache and decongestants

Lately I have been getting pretty bad headaches around the sinus area every morning when I wake up. They don't seem like migraine because I am not sensitive to light or sound. My nasal path is completely clear and I have NO nasal drip, NO breathing problem. When I take a very small dose of decongestant (sudafed, 1 pill 30 mg) though, I feel wonderful and my headache disappears. I just need that 1 little pill to get rid of my headaches for the entire day. Does that sound normal and how often can I take these pills? Nasonex does not work that well for me.

I'm in the same boat as you except it took me a lot longer to figure out that this is a sinus headache and not a migraine. I was walking around with a constant headache for a month and because I never suffered from allergies before I didn't think that this could of been a sinus headache. I went to see 4 different headache specialist and was told by all of them that this was a migraine and later told i have new daily persistent headache.
3 weeks ago I went to Florida for a week and my headache was gone the entire time there. Came back home and headache began the next day so I went to see an allergist and it turns out that my sinuses are more than 90% blocked. Like you I don't have any nasal drip, i'm not sneezing and my eyes are not watery.

Millie what test did you have for them to tell you that your sinus are 90% blocked!!

I have had pain at the front of my forehead and above my nose in the middle of my eyebrow since march, plus my ear feels full from time to time, and my nose feel runny one minute and blocked the next this is more on my left side, I also get pain up my nose.

The doctor as me on Nasonex for 3 months, its not working very well.

This all started with a cold I had so much yellow crap coming from my nose, Anyway I got a dog about six weeks ago and started to feel chesty so I paid to have a allergy test done and I am allergic to everything I was tested for , the DOG he is so lovely!!

Also cats, mix tree, pollen, silver birch, also he did some foods and I am allergic to fish, egg, wheat, and PEANUTS, its made me so scared. I am 42 years old and find all this out!!!

All this started with a cold, I feel tired all the time. I hope you all start to feel better soon.

    take care ...Mandy

    Mad Maz-

The pain that you are describing is everything that I have except for the runny nose. My doctor did some sort breathing test on me where she put some wires into my nose and was able to tell that my sinuses are blocked. Right now I'm taking claritan and while it helped before its not helping anymore. I was told that I'm allergic to mold, feathers, dust and dogs. I have 2 yorkies and I adore them, they are like my children and I can't even fathom the thought of giving them away.
