SINUS SURGERY AND ADNEOIDECTOMY- anyone been through both at the same time?

Hi all I have got the results back from my doctor as I have been suffering from sinusitis like symptoms for years and have finally done something about it.....however it will include surgery to fix as well as getting my adneoids out as well by the looks of things.

Anyhow here's what my results say.

I would appretiate it if some one could explain it in normal english for me to understand if possible.

The frontal, ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses are clear.

There was minor mucosal thickening in the floor of the maxillary antrum bilaterally with the majority of both being clear. The OMU was patent bilaterally, and there was an accessory orifice in the medial wall of the left maxillary antrum.

The nasal septum curves a little towards the left. There was no significant restriction of the nasal airway. There was mild prominence of the adenoidal soft tissues.

I have had a tonsillectomy in the past when I was 8 years old (around 18 years ago) and everything went ok with that, I still remember how it felt afterwards, I keep thinking that having the adenoids removed would be of a similar pain, am i right or is it worse?, I am a person who likes to know what to expect.

Also i have NEVER has sinus surgery before to straighten the nasal septum, what does this entail (how long in surgery, recovery e.t.c), how much pain e.t.c

First of all there are different types of sinus surgery. Techniques that like Rhino balloon and /or endoscopic laser guided surgery. What are you getting? Also ask for gel packing if packing necessary. Cloth pucking is a pain in neck and hurts and stays in longer. It will be in for about 5 days and you will need to breath through your mouth with cloth packing. Gel packing is in for 2-3 days and gets absorbed. Or if there is minimal bleeding you will not need packing but this depends on technique that surgeon uses which is what you need to find out. Getting adenoids out is nothing like getting tonsils out. Only minimal discomfort.
I had tonsillectomy ,adenectomy and endoscopic surgery(using balloon). The endosocpic was nothing compared to pain of tonsillecotomy. Also I did not bleed much so I did not need packing. Make sure your ENT is good and he/she is using latest technology.
