    Brain Fog, Fatigue and Sinuses

    Hello there

I think I need to find someone that knows what I'm going through here. I went to my Doctor recently as I was concerned about the too frequent fussiness in my head. She suggested a CT Scan which showed that my sinuses are badly blocked. This is a good outcome I thought.... just sinuses... no brain tumour!

While I thought I had "narrow" sinuses due to the difficulties with flying and sinus headaches in dusty conditions, I've never had trouble breathing... or so I believe.

Anyway, nasal irrigation was the treatment prescribed. Tipping warm saline down one nostril so that it flows out the other once a day and then three times a day squirting FESS up my nose.

All well and good and now two weeks into the regime I am finally getting the saline to come out of the opposing nostril.... must have been well blocked. My trouble is the brain fog has hit an all time high. Concentrating on anything much is really hard... like typing this "post" on this newly discovered site.

Can this be a case of things having to feel worse before they get better? Feeling rather depressed and a little desperate about this state I'm in.

I would really love to hear from someone who understands what I'm talking about and hear their story AND of course whether it got better with persevering.

    Hi Rube

Its been over three months since you posted this, what is your condition lately?

I am going through something similiar. Brain fog, dull headaches that seem to match sinus areas (including referred pain to back of head), drainage and some chest congestion. My normal allergy symptoms (itchy eyes, nose, throat, clear running nose) are not present. Not sure if I have sinitus or different allergy symptoms. I started the neti pot two days ago and cannot get it to come out the other side even though both nostrils breath in clear. Have been using the Afrin a bit, so maybe its that or inflammed passages, but something is closing up that passage from one nostril to the other. Right now using an OTC spray 'Arm & Hammer Simply Saline' and spray it up in there a few times a day. Too soon to tell if there is a change.

I think a lot of people are now having brain fog due to the weather, but I am wondering if you have checked to see if you have a deviated septum. I had one and never knew it, but it caused me to have the worst brain fog and headaches. If you do have a deviated septum, it can be taken care of very easily. I had mine taken care of years ago and during allergy season, I still get brain fog and find it difficult to read, which I love to do.

Does seen that a rise in allergies can cause brain fog. I've noticed the same thing that I have trouble typing and composing in the am, but it does get better in the pm. I'm not sure if it is from immune system chemicals or sinus inflammation. I ended trying the herbal anti-inflammatory curcumin, and it seemed to reduce these symptoms. I was originally taking curcumin for plantar fascititis (heel pain), but it seemed to reduce inflammation in the forehead area as well. I know that University of Ariz and Dr. Weil, who studies intergrative medicine there, have liked both curcumin and ginger for being good anti-inflammatories. Curcumin has been an Indian(the country of India) cooking herb for several centuries.
