FM and sjögren's

Can someone please tell me what the main difference between Sjögren and Fibromyalgia is? I think I may have both, or just Sjögren. I have dry eyes and dry skin, and my nose sometimes feels like it's irritated somehow (burning sensation)... However, my mouth sometimes produces too much saliva, but sometimes it feels dry... Every night I have a glass of water with me, cause I usually feel thirsty when I wake up during the night... I'm only 21 and there's no family history of Sjögren.. please help me..

Hi Madeofglass. If you have Sjogren's you would be dealing with a lot of dryness. You could also have fatigue and muscle aches. Fibromyalgia means you have tender points throughout your body that causes pain when pressure is put on them. Fibro can also cause trouble sleeping and some other problems. There is a lot of info. on Fibro on the net. I have both Sjogren's and Fibro so if you have any questions let me know.

Re: FM and sjögren's

I also have both and find that the symptoms are often similar so who knows which is which. I am on Plaquenil (cannot tolerate generic) and that seems to have me under control most of the time. I do have what I call flares that make my symptoms more acute and the time frame seems to be right at 2 weeks each time and then they subside somewhat. This last time I had double knee surgery and was making great progress and then I had a flare that settled in my knees. I thought I had something wrong and would have to have additional surgery but once again after 2 weeks I improved and feel successful with recuperation. My worst symptoms are skin too sore to touch, sore joints, headaches, tiredness, poor sleep, digestion problems. Who knows what causes what. Everyone's symptoms are so different.
