    Folliculitis

Hoping someone who has had folliculitis can help. I was diagnosed in March, but had the rash for a while longer. Prescribed antibiotics for 2 months, no help, steroid creams, washes and numerous medications. I have seen 2 Dermatologists but nothing has helped. It is only on the back of my legs and thighs, mostly where I sit. It can be quite painful especially when it is hot. Hoping someone has some ideas.
    Thank you.

    Re: Folliculitis

It is probably not folliculitis. You an ask for some areas to be biopsied to make sure what's going on.

Are you overapplying the creams? That can actually aggravate the condition. Make sure you are using only a small amount, especially if they are steroid ointments.. and talk to your prescribing doctor, they may want to try a different medication for you.

    Re: Folliculitis

I actually did stop using the creams because it was aggravating the condition, also cost $99,00 a small tube and saw no relief whatsoever. I use OTC acne meds which seem to keep the inflammation calmed down. I am hoping when the weather cools down it will bring some relief.

I have read, some people have the condition for years and was hoping for some new recommendations. Thank you so much for replying to my post.

It could be allergic reaction to possibly a dye in pants? Have you tried antihistamines? Have you tried a light application of calamine lotion?
