Exclamation lip pigmentation ( PLEASE HELP ME )

Inside of my upper lip there seems to be small white little balls right
beneath the skin. If I press hard against my lip I can see the small white
dots clustered together just under the skin. On the lip where the white
dots are the skin on the lips is a little odd. It is almost wrinkly. At
first I thought I had herpes or something but the dermatologist said that it
was definitely not. But he could not tell me what the white dots were
inside my lip. The skin around these areas are clearly different than that
of the other parts of my lips. The only thing I put on my lips is just chap
    stick.
Could the chemical in the chap stick cause this?

I am concerned about the cosmetic appearance of this because of the drastic
color changes on my lip. It looks like I have a cold sore or something.
There are a few photographs of my lip up on my website, please go to the url
    below

If anyone knows what is going on or how
I can correct this please get back to me!

    Thank you so much!

    -Henk

Did you have dental work where they had to stretch your mouth open for a certain period of time? If so, I would like to say it was caused from that. The reason why is when I had my wisdom teeth taken out, I have noticed the same marks. Before the surgery, they made me sign a release saying that I can get permanent marks and other things (I don't remember much) can happen. Well, after the surgery when things healed up, I noticed the same marks you have when I went to check out my teeth. However, its only noticable when I look REALLY close in the mirror and I move my lips around when I am checking out my teeth like after dental work. Unfortunately its permanent. Its been over 10 years already having it. But fortunately, its not noticable or harmful. I hope its not noticable in your case also. Its hard to tell by the picture, but from what I can tell, it doesn't look bad. If your still worried, ask your doctor. Take care!

I must be missing something because I cannot see anything unusual.

I also have a lot of little white "spots" on my lips as well that look like hypopigmentation ... but they've been there forever, and can only be seen if you look REAL close. And if you're that close to see them, chances are we're real good friends, and there's no secrets anyway,...

But I doubt it's harmful, - your lips look fine.

Have you been to a dermatologist or asked a dentist or asked your pcp? It's sort of hard to make even an educated guess when it looks like your lips look normal...

They might be cysts, or fatty nodules (if you can detect any type of texture to them). Or if they're definitely flat, it could be spots of hypopigmentation.

The skin in the lips is different than all the skin on the entire rest of your body -- and the only thing even close is labia for women and scrotum for men. The skin make up, cell structure, texture, pigmentation, absolutely everything, is so different and doesn't fall into most of the same medical categories (ie: treatment or symptomatology).

That said, my best guess is that it's fatty deposits.
