Help me, Using Mederma on facial scar

I had a cut on my face maybe 1.5 months ago that required 6 stitches to close. Now that the scar is healing I was using Mederma for 3 weeks now, three times a day at least and have some questions to ask:

-Is there a difference when using the Mederma on new scars and old scars? does it work better on new ones or something?

-Do you rub it in slowly or do not rub at all?

-Does it feel like its drying cause it makes the region I apply it to feel tight, is this supposed to happen?

-Is the application suppossed to kinda peel off? I find it forms a thin layer on the skin and can be pulled off.

-What are the best times to apply? evenly throught the day 3-4 times?

-Does it fade punctures or indented parts of the scars?

-What is the normal time to expect an average size scar to fade with constant use of Mederma? is 2 months like it says on the box accurate for new scars?

I dont know if anyone can help me, but answering a few questions would be very helpful. Having a obvious scar right on my face sucks, just want to get rid of it, I have heard many good things about Mederma and hope I can stop looking at this scar pretty soon, I am quite optimistic.

-Does smoking cigarettes effect healing time?

Thank you anybody for any help at all

Re: Help me, Using Mederma on facial scar

    Hi,

I really can't answer those. I have a scar on my neck- a hypertrophic scar. I tried the scar gels/creams/lotions nothing helped.
I then tried the scar patches ( I think curad makes them??) they have silicon in them. While its not perfect the ends of my scar flattened right out. It's not ideal on your face b/c people will see it, but if you are really concerned you might have to use it. They are a bit more expensive than the lotions.

Any one have any experiences with Mederma at all?

I can see the scar is softened and is fading slightly after 3 weeks of using it everyday so I am happy to see that.

    Thx.
