Hi all
I am a 24 year old female and 8 years ago I was diagnosed with some slight swelling (1-2mm) of the subcutaneous fat in my left cheek. This is noticeable to the eye in comparison to the right cheek. I also have increased blood vessels and flow in that cheek, creating redness which Ive just had laser surgery for.
Until now, my right side has been completely normal, obviously resulting in facial asymmetry which has always been a mystery to my dermatologists. They dont know why or how it formed. I've been really disappointed in that most doctors do not care to investigate this, despite the fact that its had a huge impact on my life. In previous years I've had lots of scans - CT, xrays, ultrasounds as well as a biopsy which showed nothing. The CT scan was the only one that showed thickening of the subcutaneous fat/tissue.
Lately Ive been feeling a little strange on my right cheek. When i smile, it feels "thickened", similar to the left side but not as severe, i am scared it is also starting to develop the same mystery condition of my left cheek.
The skin on my left cheek feels thick and does not have the softness of a normal cheek, ie when you squeeze the cheek, it does not lift as it should due to it being thicker. Im unsure if this thickening has increased over the years, but i plan to have a scan done soon to test this.
Has anyone ever heard of something like this happening?? My doctors are still stuck after all these years and Im desperate for answers, especially if my right cheek is starting to follow suit

Any advice appreciated.. also any dermatologist recommendations would be wonderful, Im in Australia but Im willing to travel anywhere if it means someone will really be prepared to fully investigate my condition.
