after cold sore, still have red mark...worried

I had a cold sore about 5 weeks ago. I get them usually several times a year, just depends on different factors. I have acyclovir I take when I feel an outbreak coming on and it usually prevents it from getting really bad. The last cold sore I got was right above my lip.

Well I've also been tanning and the owner at the salon told me that cold sores are common after tanning. I read about it online too, that it often brings out cold sores. So I started using a lip protectant with SPF15. However there was a light pink spot STILL where the cold sore was for quite awhile. I didn't notice it last week, but today I scratched where the area was and it was really I looked in the mirror and I noticed it again, very light pink, but still noticeable to me. I know tanning is risky, but I only do it a few mos a year so I've got a little tan for summer. I'm really worried about this spot now and am wondering if this is something serious??? I haven't tanned in over a wk because we were on vacation. I did have some sun exposure, but not A LOT. I would appreciate any thoughts or advice!!!
