Insane Itchy Skin Problem

I'm 18 and for about 6 weeks now I have had a terrible itching problem with my torso and back.

At first it only occurred when I played soccer. I would break a sweat and itch like crazy but it would go away in a short time.

Since then the problem has worsened and now seems to be triggered by any emotional stress I have. Whether it's from fear, excitement, anxiety, or any other emotion. For example, yesterday my family was playing catch phrase and we were all getting into it. From the excitement I began to itch like crazy and it wouldn't go away until I calmed down.

It's not just a normal itchy either. It's the kind of itchy that makes you want to rip your skin off. It feels like a bunch of needles are pricking my skin. It drives me crazy.

Recently I've noticed that when the itching starts up I have a bunch of little red specs that appear on my skin. But when I calm down or cool down they go away and the itching stops.

I went to the dermatologist and she said it's a common problem and that claritin would solve it. I've been taking claritin for 5 days and still no relief...

Any ideas of how I can solve this problem? Thanks.
