Red face chronic rash on belly

Hi I am 39 male and have had a rash on my belly below my belly button for two years, the doctor has given me every anti fungal and anti bacterial cream and treatment under the sun along with steroids and while some treasures reduce swelling and itchiness it just won't go away. Sometimes it comes up in welts, especially if I scratch - I can't help it, it's so itchy sometimes. It's really embarrassing and has all but stopped me from being intimate with anyone and I'm really at my wits end it just won't go away! I've seen a dermatologist who prescribed me a cream which reduces the rash and stops it being itchy but the redness just won't go away. Any ideas or feedback?

    Re: chronic rash on belly

I wonder, could it be your laundry detergent or maybe something you use in the shower.
    Have you tried an Antihistamine.
I had a similar symptom once and was given "BETNOVATE" which is a steroid type cream, it really helped also dabbing the affected area with cold water helped cool the itch. Not sure how else you can reduce the redness. If you can avoid the cause which may take a trial of different medications, I think the redness will eventually heal itself.

Smile Re: chronic rash on belly

hi thanks for your reply I hadn't considered washing powder or shower gel as a possible culprit so I'll definitely have a go at checking all the things I use and try other brands etc to see what happens
