Red face Long-term complications from Hidradenitis Suppurativa?

    Hi,

I just recently heard about this skin disease and I am so relieved to finally have an answer as to what my issues are. I have had two very painful, recurring "boils/abscesses" on both my inner thighs/groin area for about 20 years. I assumed it was just a complication from ingrown hairs that had built up scar tissue or something. I get them about 2-5 times a year. They get about nickel-sized and fill with blood, pus and thick scar-tissue-like white, hard stuff (sorry, TMI). When squeezed, it develops a DEEP hole in my thigh, who knows how deep. I'm wondering if your doctor's have ever expressed concern about the severity of the abscesses and the damage that may be occurring underneath the skin. I'm worried that after 20 years of this mess and damage to my skin (large purple scars, skin is totally damaged), and the depth of the damaged tissue may present a more serious condition. Any advice?

    Thanks!

Hi, sorry to hear that. I too have H.S. It is a very painful and ugly disease!!! I get them under my arms, groin, buttocks, stomach, breast and thighs. I have had it over 20 years and was diagnosed 12 years ago. I have 5 that popped up over night in my groin and butt area. I still have not found a doctor that knows alot about it, but i'm still looking. I have been told that people with this disease should have a doctor that can stay on top of it. I'm looking for a dermatologist for it now. I hope the best for you!!!
