Red Blotchy itchy wrists and sides

It started in April with my husband itching so bad he was waking me up. He had pin head sized water blisters around his cuticles and itching all over his body. He went to the doctor who prescribed him steroids and some type of anti itch cream. 2 weeks later he's back at the doctor for the same problem only now it's getting worse. To make a long story short, he's been to a dermatologist to ask if this could be scabies. After a skin scraping, the dermatologist is confident it's NOT scabies.
Another month has passed and the itching/burning seems to be getting worse and now I have it as well. I've visited my doctor (separate doctor) who says this is some colossal allergy and gives me a Kenelog shot and tells me to double up on Zyrtec. So I've followed orders. (This itching is also at the base of my scalp)
NOW IT'S GETTING WORSE. The last two days are non stop burning, itching and massive welts everywhere. It stings and itches worse for my clothes to even touch it. It also seems to get worse in the heat.... (Could be my imagination too) Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!
