Red face Cold sore/scab thing that won't go away!

I think theres a post below about this, of course i see it AFTER i right this -- the people below suggest its a deficiency of Vitamin B12 or riboflavin? Are these things i can get in a regular multivitamin? I do try to take one everyday but i usually forget - let me know if anyone else has any other ideas. This just started happening awhile ago, and its just one corner of my mouth
About a month and a half ago I got a, what i assumed, was a cold sore in the right corner of my mouth. I didnt think much of it and used some cold sore product (not something like abreva that costs 15 bucks) but something to dry it up. Eventually it "went away" but there was still a little area that you could tell was pinker so it still looked like i had it. well it came back and i went through the same thing again. now its back for a third time, it gets crusty like a scab but i dont think its a cold sore anymore. i threw away all my chapsticks and started using carmex, and it seemd to get a little better but it came back. i was thinking maybe my chapstick was reinfecting me with some bacteria or something. i am at a loss, i just dont know what to try anymore! its like if i open my mouth really wide the scab will crack and it hurts and im sick of it !!! does anyone know what it could be????

Have you tried putting nothing on it for a long time? How often does it come off? It sounds like what I have, only I get the scabs all over my lips. I can't even smile.

I also don't think it's the same thing that the riboflavin deficiency causes. That's cheilitis angularis, and it's when the corners of your mouth start extending out-ward and are all red and cracked. I don't think it usually just affects one corner. I think your lips need to heal. I seem to be getting good results from not putting anything on for a while except for Aquaphor when my lips get really dry (but I really try to avoid the stuff, especially when the scabs are just forming). It's very difficult to leave the scab-skin on because it hurts to stretch and it looks gross, but I think it really is a scab and needs time to heal what it's protecting underneath.
