Atopic Dermititis

I posted about my extremely dry hands and didn't get a response from anyone. Perhaps its because I mentioned my diagnosis of Erythromelalgia. I don't believe that's a correct let me pose my question this way. Does atopic dermatitis develop on someone who has never had allergy issues or asthma? My son has had eczema his entire life (28 yrs) and I've heard that its genetic so he got it from either my husband or myself. Could I just now be developing an allergy-type issue and its affecting my hands? They are extremely dry...sweat constantly because they are hot...redness on palms and fingers...wrinkled, like my hands have been in water and my fingertips feel like they have dried glue on them. I go to bed holding a frozen water bottle (wrapped in a towel) because they are so hot. Any light on atopic dermatitis is appreciated. This was my initial diagnosis given by my family practitioner. I've tried steroid creams and nothing has then went to a dermatologist who thought I have Erythormelalgia.
