Question Can a home normal doctor prescribe Ritalin and Provigil for diagnosed narcolepsy?

I'm a college student in Asia, who have narcolepsy without cataplexy for years. Medication by Ritalin (methylphenidate) and Provigil (modafinil) works well.

Now I'm going to stay in the United States for one year as an exchange student. I'm now wondering how I can keep getting my medicine in the US.

My question is, if I go to see a normal doctor (home doctor) with a medical certificate of the diagnosis of narcolepsy and the appropriate medication, will he or she give me a prescription of Ritalin and Provigil (or generic equivalent) easily?

The medical certificate will be signed by a medical doctor in my country, who is a specialist well-known globally in Psychiatry and Neurological sleep disorders.

It would be very helpful if you also tell me, roughly speaking, how much will it cost to see the home doctor and get a prescription, and how much will the Ritalin and Provigil (or equivalent products) cost without insurance? It seems that the health insurance suggested by the university in the US does not cover pre-existing conditions. Also my small research on google figured out that these sleep disorder is often denied by a health insurance company. So I'd prepare myself about expected prices without insurance.

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Best regards,
