Insomnia: using Ambien and Benadryl alternately

I am experiencing significant insomnia. One doctor suggested benadryl, but said I shouldn't take in more than a couple of times a week. Another doctor said benadryl was not good for me and gave me a prescription for Ambien, but with the caution to use it only a couple of times a week.

Both drugs work, but I need more than two nights a week of decent sleep. Will it cause a bad interaction if I use each of them twice a week, alternating?

    Thanks,
    Randy457

Can you take it every night with no problems of buildup or addiction or losing effectiveness?

That's what I was told when my doc prescribed it to me.
I use 25mg (split the lowest available 50mg). It's used as an antidepressant / antianxiety med, and off-label for sleeping.
Absolutely request it from your doctor, because it is sorth trying. My doc wrote the rx for use of 25mg - 50mg for sleep. I've never used 50mg. However, I have used L-Theanine with it.
