    Seroquel for sleep?

Is anyone taking Seroquel for sleeping problems? My doctor wants me to try it, but since its an antipsycotic, I'm not sure. Thanks

    Re: Seroquel for sleep?

Hi I take 25mg of seroquel at night for sleep along with 25mg of paxil and .75mg of xanax a day. the xanax doesnt help much for my constant panic attacks and anxiety the paxil makes it worse i think. my only saving grace is that the 25mg of seroquel is enough to make me sleep like a baby and wake up refreshed that is until i get out of bed and the anxiety kicks in again

Seroquel will knock you out cold, but it CAN actually have some serious side effects. In the long-term, you can develop Tardive Dyskinesia. I also just read that there is a class-action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel (Wyeth I THINK) because Seroquel can cause diabetes. Is there anything else you can try first?
    Good luck.

(By the way, I took Seroquel for a very long time for OCD and have been off of it now for about a year and now have major blood sugar problems, most likely reactive hypoglycemia, which can lead to Type 2 Diabetes. I cannot say whether or not Seroquel had ANYTHING to do with that, but it's sure interesting to say the least.)
