Rythmic tongue movements in an adult

I'm an adult female with a very peculiar sleep disorder. This started happening within the last couple years, but the frequency has suddenly increased to the point where it happens just about every day. In the last hour or two before I wake up, I keep moving my tongue rythmically in my mouth in almost a sucking-like manner. Usually my mouth is at least partially open, which sometimes causes me to drool. I continually wake myself up doing it, but as soon as I fall back to sleep I find myself doing it again. It is not only embarrassing, but since I'm constantly waking myself up in the last hour or two of sleep, I usually feel very tired and groggy when I finally get up.

I've done some research and it appears that this is a very peculiar type of NREM sleep parasomnia. However, it also appears to be mostly reported in infants or young children, especially those with syndromes like Costello or Autism.

So, I'm desperately trying to figure out why I am experiencing this all of a sudden as a normal, healthy adult, whether anyone else has experienced this and if anything can be done to help!
