    Commit Lozenges...

Has anyone had experience with those Commit lozenges to quit smoking? My husband is trying to quit smoking. He has tried cold turkey without any luck, and has tried the patch for a while, but ended up lighting up again. He has cut down a lot (from a pack a day to about 5 or 6 cigarettes per day), but wants to quit completely before I give birth (I just started my 9th month, so it's crunch time. lol) He wants to try the lozenges (which I think you can take whenever you get a craving, instead of having a constant wave of nicotine running through your system like the patch does). If anyone has had success with them or has any other experiences, we would greatly appreciate your responses. Thanks!

I used them and couldn't have done it without them. They taste nasty for the first couple of days, but they are fine after that. I would definitely recommend them.

    Re: Commit Lozenges...

There Used To Be A Poster Here Named Cindy_in_fl Who Quit With Commit, As Did Her Hubby. They Are Both About To Celebrate 2 Years Smoke Free, After Smoking For 3o+ Yrs.

I Quit Many Times With Gum And Patches, Always Worked For A Few Months, Then I'd Fall Off The Wagon...guess I Wasn't Really Ready. When I Finally Was "really Ready", I Quit With Patches, (the Steady Stream Is Actually Better, [i Think], No Highs And Lows), And Later Switched To The Gum. It's Now Been 2 Yrs And 7 Months Since I Smoked....it Works When You Want It To Work, Cuz It All Boils Down To Your Own Willpower...the Nrt Just Helps You Along The Way.

Glad To Hear You're Trying To Protect Your New Babies' Health, Before He Even Arrives. Best Thing In The World For All Of You!

Oh,...a Tip For Your Hubby In Case He Does End Up Using The Commit. My Friend Cindy, She Would Cut Them In Half, With A Pill Cutter, That Way They Lasted Her Twice As Long, And She Said They Worked Just As Well As Taking In The Whole Thing At Once. Maybe The First Week Or Two Tho I Would Use The Whole Lozenge.

    Good Luck!!

Congrats on the new baby on the way and for your husband to want to quit! I am using Commit right now, he will have to see what is good for him..The suggest that if you smoke your first cigarette of the day within 30 mins of getting out of bed, then you need the 4mg, if you smoke your first cigarette after 30 mins from getting out of bed then you need the 2mg... I started the 4mg, its been 2 days and counting...I am not sure what the regular tastes like, but I am using the mint, I believe it helps get it down...You have to suck on them until they dissolve..they aren't bad tasting...BUT to swallow that juice is rough...for me it makes me want to vomit the first 5 mins or so of the dissolve..but after that you kind of get use to them...You are still getting nicotine in your system, but only when you put it there...with the patch, its continuous...with Commit, its when you put it there...and believe it or not, THEY REALLY WORK!!! I had to quit for health reasons, and I didn't want to at all, but I decided that if I didn't kick the butts then they would take my life, and I am only 39!!! So with that said, I took my first lozenge yesterday am at 6:30am...and its been pretty easy...the first 3 days of quitting is the hardest....but I am over half way there, today the cravings aren't so bad, only after I eat, so that is when I pop one...They suggest taking 9 a day, but that is too much for me, yesterday (the first day of quitting) I only had 4, today I have only had 2 1/2 and its after 1pm...I take one about every 2 hours..I am determined to beat this addiction! I so strongly suggest Commit, its the best stop smoking aide on the market today, BECAUSE....THEY REALLY WORK! Tell your husband good luck and I hope you have a heatlhy baby....

    Re: Commit Lozenges...

I used (still use) Commit, and it is working wonderfully...especially now that they have mint flavored LOL.
I started on 4mg, and I still take a few 2mg (quit 1/9/06), and out of all the NRT's I've tried (gum, patch, hypno, et al), I think these are the best.

One off-the-cuff bit of advice...Commit also comes in a "Popper Pack" in addition to the blister packs. For some reason, they don't seem to be as strong (the pills are marked different as well...weird)....just something to keep in mind.

    Good Luck!!

Hi Shelley Are you still using the lozenges, and how are you doing?
Haven't had a smoke today and I'm about to freak out! I'm having surgery 4/21 and my dr. WILL NOT do it if I don't quit smoking two weeks prior. This morning I decided was going to be "The Day." I'm glad to hear you've had good luck using the lozenges......I'm on my way to the drugstore to purchase some.

    Re: Commit Lozenges...

I find that the commmit lozenges also help with the "oral gratification" component that smoking provides. That's why people gain weight when they quit. Besides, they take at least 20 minutes or so to dissolve and you can't eat anything 15 minutes before taking them.Less time to stuff your face.lol. I miss the original flavor though, the mint makes me naseous
