| New Chantix user checking in!!!
Hey Everyone!
I've recently started my Chantix and I am going into day 7 tomorrow. Today was the first day that I noticed I smoked alot less than normal and the urge wasn't there as often. I am so excited to finally kick this nasty habit for the last and final time. I am glad I found this forum so that I can check in daily and feel like I really have a great group of friends who support one another. Saturday March 10th is my 36th birthday and I am going to give myself the best birthday gift ever of starting a new life as a non smoker! Looking forward to being on board with the rest of you and great job to all!!
J

Hi black widow!!
Welcome to you! I just love new quitters!! I get really excited when I see someone kicking this addiction!! And this is a WONDERFUL forum! The people on this board are the best!! Very supportive in a positive way!!
What a wonderful birthday present to give yourself!!!
I noticed you call this a habit. It really is an addiction. Did you know that it is harder to kick the nicotine addiction than it is to kick a cocaine addiction? But this board is just full of people who are doing just that!! They are kicking butt!! After you have the addiction licked, you start working on the habit then. The habit is when you used to automatically light up because...you went outside...you're talking on the phone..etc. Not because you NEED a cigarette, just because that's what you are used to doing.
Keep us posted as to your progress!! Let us know in way we can help.

Hi Black Widow!
CONGRATS on becoming a quitter! Glad you found this board - there are some very supportive people here who have gone through what you are going through. Make sure you have a plan to deal with times you normally smoke - in the car, after work...whenever....think of what you will do instead.
Remember - smoking is NOT an option! Soon you will be FREE! deb

Welcome Black Widow
Welcome EggYolks
Black widow- What an awesome birthday present!! You couldn't give yourself a better one!! Also, Happy Birthday to you!!
EggYolks- Have you quit yet? Remember that there are wonderful people on this board so we are here if you need us.
It is day 12 for me and it really hasn't been that hard. the urge comes and goes but I have successfully redirected my thoughts and know that it is not an option for me! I have started giving myself mini rewards. I will get my first one when I am at a month and I already can't wait to get it.
Best of luck to both of you in your quit!!

Welcome Black Widow! It's a piece of cake! With this message board and Chantix, I'm tellin' ya - you can do it! I've only been quit one week and 5 days I think now, and I'm even cutting back to one pill a day. You just have to be strong-willed and do it. It's great you found this place, because without it, I'm not sure I could've done it. It was scary, and there was lots of questions and things going on, but everybody's here for you, and it's like going to therapy, in your pajamas!!
Congrats and 36th Happy Birthday on Saturday! Go out and celebrate with something healthy!! |

I've quit for close to 2 months now. My son is very cuddly lately too. He tucks his head between my neck and my shoulders and takes deep breaths...I think I must have a nice mommy-smell now instead of the smoke-smell? This makes it all worth it to me |

I know what you mean. My daughter, although she is 8, smelled my hair last night and told me it smelled like pinnapples Nice to know I don't stink anymore. Almost done with day 2 at work with no smoke, had a "fit" about 30 minutes ago but took deep breaths and ate a sucker then the wave went away, WHEW!

WOW!!! Thanks all for the warm welcomes! Today I've noticed an even less desire and the urges are getting less and less by the day. So far I've been very impressed with Chantix. I had 6 cigs all day long so far...usually a 20-30 per day smoker. Looking forward to tomorrow and the progress I will make. Thanks again everyone!!!

Conrats on your decision to take back control of your life! You rock!
I smoked about the same amout you did, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would onl smoke 4 cigs in 2 days, but that is exactley what happened on day 5 and 6 for me and it was sooo cool! This Chantix is amazing if you can get past the gas and stuff!

Hi EggYolks,
Welcome to the board!! Almost 2 months quit is WONDERFUL!!!
Awwwwe, that's so sweet about the mommy smell. I wished I had been able to quit when my son was small. He used to beg me to. But the addiction was just too strong until I found the Chantix. Yep, that's what did it for me.
We could use all the input we can get. Please stay around and inspire us!!
freeforme,
Way to go!! I'm glad you were able to fight that old urge!! Deep breaths do help. Try timing the urges. They really don't last very long. Just seems that way.
black widow,
Doing Good!! Won't be long now! Aren't you excited?
