    Laminectomy & fusion of lumbar

I will soon be having a laminectomy of L3, 4 & 5 with a fusion of 4-5. Looking for someone who has had it done and how the surgery and recovery went. I am extremely nervous about the surgery but looking forward to a better quality of life.

Re: Laminectomy & fusion of lumbar

    Welcome to the board, Lynn.

They are doing a laminectomy at L3/L4, L4/L5 but only fusing L4/L5? Did they give a reason for this? I would think that might be a recipe for instability and further problems at L3/L4.

BTW: You may get more answers/comments from the "Back Problems" board. Quite a few more folks that have had lumbar issues hang around there.

thanks for your help I will post this under back problems also. I don't know why they aren't fusing L3/4. I have a meeting with the doctor this week and that is one of my questions. I do not want to have to have surgery again.
