    c3/4 Laminectomy or ACDF

I have a herniated Disc c3/4 and Stenosis and have to get something done. Basically I have narrowed down to 2 options. A Posterior Laminectomy by Neurosurgeon or ACDF by Specialist Spine surgeon.

I need to make the choice in the next few days as the tingling in my right arm is getting worse by the day.

Deep down I feel the ACDF is the right choice as it deals directly with the Disc itself, but the Laminectomy seems the 'Softer' option!

Can anyone give me any advice?

The back wall of the canal is causing the stenosis, but it is the disc between c3/4 which is the concern as it's squashed and bulging into the canal.

The options I have are to remove the disc completeley or make more space at the back of the spine in that particular area.

    Re: c3/4 Laminectomy or ACDF

I am scheduled to be operated on September 2, 2004 for 2 bludging discs. It is a C4-6 laminectory with C3-7 screws. Can anyone out there give me an idea as to the recovery time and also what kind of aftermath can I look forward to? I am in pretty bad shape, I have no feeling in either of my hands or my forearms. Just awful stinging and burning 24/7. The surgeon stated that I will have feeling back when I wake up from the surgery. I am hoping that he is being straight with me.
