    Losing Trunk Control...What's going on?

I'm new here and could use everyone's advice. My husband had a bleeding AVM and later a tumor removed from his spinal cord 16 years ago. After radiation and alot of rehab, he is in remission, and has been using a quadcane until recently. Lately his trunk muscles pull him down with such unexpected force, he is afraid he will fall and screams out when the contraction hits. It's also getting harder for him to go from sitting to standing. He recently started to use a walker and rollator so that he has more support for walking. I also noticed that when he did use his cane, he was starting to really lean into his cane, also throwing him off kilter. These two forces have really taken it's toll on his walking and his confidence. He rides a stationary bicycle twice a day for a total of 30 minutes (6 miles). His legs are strong, but his walking has suffered. Could this be simply a need for physical therapy for his upper body muscles to help with his trunk or is this something new? I'm really scared!! Thanks for your help...
