thoracodorsal nerve and the latissimus dorsi

Have any of you experienced loss of contraction of the latissimus dorsi (the muscles that make your back look wide). They get their nerve signal from a combo of c6 c7 and c8. Before surgery I could not make my lats on my left side contract at all. It contracts to about 50% compared to the other side.. They were well developed from all the back exercises I did so I could contract them easily. It doesn hurt or nothing it just wont contract as hard as the other side.

Re: thoracodorsal nerve and the latissimus dorsi

no one else on this board has expierenced their lat back muscles not contract or any pain in that muscle.(right under your underarm). I am curious if mine has something to do with my shoulder pain, Im still not able to raise my left arm without pain. The nerve that runs along the shoulder blade to the rotator cuff goes along to that muscle. All the pain I had with my hern. disc at c5 c6 has diminished quite a bit. I have an appointment with a shoulder specialis., The pain I have is different from the pain I had with my disc. It was like all the pain I had with my disc was masking my shoulder joint pain. It pops everytime I raise my arm.
