| What exactly is a subluxation??
I have been diagnosed with the following:
Subluxation of the cervical region
Subluxation of the Thoracic region
Subluxation of the Lumbar region
Radiculitis-cervical
What does all this mean? Is this just another term that my back is way out of whack?? lol
Also have degenerative disk disease in the lumbar area.
Thanks for any info...SHelley

Subluxation is when a joint slips out of place but does not fully dislocate. This can cause pressure on the spinal chord and nerves. Some individuals are prone to subluxation of many joints such as in the case of those with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.
Often when a joint sublex's (sp) it will basically slip back into place, this is the difference between subluxation and complete dislocation.

Go to a Doctor not a Chiropractor. If you are in pain get x-rays followed by mri. I've never had a MD diagnose subluxation (not that it's impossible). Muscle imbalance is the main cause of true subluxation. Chiro's usully diagnose subluxation - if the don't then wgat do they fix?

I, infact, did go to a chiro. I went three times a week for three weeks, two times a week for three weeks, and one time a week for one week. I was supposed to go for three weeks, but I didn't see any improvement at all.
I have been to my MD, actually a couple of MD's. They did complete X-rays of my spine (found mild curvature in upper back). The chiro did some test that tests your muscle tensity. Most of the muscles in my back were way over where they were supposed to be (according to him).
The MD has said it shouldn't be kidney's (although I swell alot in legs and ankles). They have also started checking out my heart, it started skipping a beat. They said it may be the medications they have me on (verapimil ER 240 mg, and now have me on Triamterene/HCTZ 36.5/25). I still have BP that averages 140/90. I have had chest pain, then afterwards, I feel lightheaded and just don't feel good.
I have had many other symptoms, too. I will list those:
Mid and upper back burning pain
sharp shooting pain in lower back
swelling on right side mid abdomen
pressure feeling(like something is swollen and pressing on ribcage, and back)
Diahrea (sp?) (kind of mustard color, sometimes like water, sometimes just watery)
severe headaches in forehead area
traces of blood/protein in urine every time it's checked (dr. said they weren't worred, it was only traces)
difficulty urinating at nite although frequently getting up at nite to urinate
swelling in legs, ankles, and hands, more on the right side.
Fatigue
not sleeping well at nite, waking with hip/shoulder pain, pain in back (when I wake up sometimes, I can't even move)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
bleeding from GI once
a sensation of bugs crawling on my back, mid section
I have had a CT scan, the only thing that showed up was "fat infiltration of the liver". 10 years ago, I had a severe gallbladder attack, was hospitalized for 6 days, had bile back up in my body, and severe infection. Shortly after that, I had a severe UTI, and was put on meds for it (they found bile in urine that time). I had my gallbladder taken out, but wondered if permanent damage had occured because of the severity of the attack. (had jaundice)
The main thing I am feeling now:
is a pressure like feeling in side of body, around the bottom of the ribcage, and around the right side of the back.
I have a burning pain in the mid section of my back. I feel like their is something that is swollen inside, and whatever it is, is causing the back pain, and the pressure feeling on my ribcage.
Alot of times, I have a sensation of bugs crawling on my back. It doesn't really hurt, just very annoying.
Anyone have any advice on where to go next with testing??
Thanks alot, Shelley

A CT scan is more of a soft tissue and organ scan. It sounds to me like you may be having spinal issues. If the chiropractor isnt making you feel better....stop going you can actually do more damage then good sometimes.
Chiroprators work great for manipulation of the spine, People without serious back issues often see alot of relief from such visit. HOWEVER if you do have a herniation the twisting and manipulation of the spine could in fact damage it further. The Degenerative Discs can also be damaged by chiropractors.
My advice is to see a Neuro or Ortho Specialist.... get an MRI. The burning sensation and the bug crawly sensation sound like what many other people on this board deal with, Myself included.
I have a constant burning sensation right between my shoulder blades. This is from a C5-7 disc bulge. I also had the bug crawling sensation before my double spinal fusion at L4-5,S1.

Well, the echocardiogram came back normal, so that's good. I ended up going BACK to the dr. on Thursday due to burning pain in my mid/upper back. I feel like it has something to do with the T12 vertabrae, and maybe even the rib. It feels like that Rib is "Out of PLace". I feel pressure on that side of my ribcage, and burning pain mostly in all of my back. He said he feels like it is muscle irritation from being overweight. I do not think it all has to do with that, some maybe. I, also, had fallen 3 years ago and fractured my ankle. When I did, I had a slight pain in my back, but not alot. The ankle was definately my main priority then. Now, I am wondering (because I twisted around when I fell, and went down at the same time) if I didn't do some damage then, because it has been hurting ever since. Thanks for any input, I am at a loss. I don't know what to do next. I don't have good insurance, and can't afford too many more tests. My husband thinks I complain all the time, but he just doesn't understand when I hurt, I hurt!!!!!! Thanks for any help, Shelley
