Question what now

Hi there im sorry if this is a long post but i think i have scared myself, in july of 04 i started to become short of breath and suffered right side mid-upper back pain during early pregnancy, the back pain is almost like a a deep deep burning whenever i get my partner to rub the ribs in the back the only sign of any pain is a tender rib (feels bruised) but to touch it it doesnt give me the symptoms that accur allday. I have had my gallblader checked liver and i have had a chest xray all ok as well as my bloods. I am a smoker and im have given up i have convinced my self that this is lung cancer and this is the end for me. doc says its muscular but the net says muscular pain dissapears as the day goes on, mine is the other way im fine when i first get up then when i sit down to have my first cup of tea of the day it creeps in and stays for the day , Then when i lay down at night just as im drifting off to sleep i get this what feels like blood rushing into my arms it only happens 1 at night for a few seconds but sure does make me jump. i havent had a single day without pain since the july 04 and i am getting very desparate.

Could any one tell me what they think? and does any one share a similar story.

Re: what now

If the pain seems to involve your back or neck in any way - perhaps you can get your doctor to request an MRI and then consider a referral to an orthopedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon depending on the results. The other option is to request a referral to a pulmonologist if you think it is more respiratory (if the breathing seems to cause the pain which ends up feeling like back pain). An orthopedic surgeon can help diagnose or rule out any bone/joint related issues.
