    MRI Results for T & L Spind

I had MRIs of my T & L spine last week, to investigate pain I'm experiencing in those areas. I have previously had a couple of ACDFs to fuse C4/5/6/7, and there is some chronic pain in my neck and shoulders from that. But over the last 6 months or so, pain has increased in the rest of my spine.

The lumbar spine MRI showed bulging discs at L3/l4/L5/S1 - beginning to press on nerve branches, and the spinal cord. No herniations yet, and not so bad to warrant surgery at this point, but I'm thinking I may have to face that down the road.

The T spine MRI showed hemangiomas at multiple levels, and I have experienced increasing pain in that area. I don't know if the hemangiomas are a cause for the pain - does anyone have this kind of experience? I have a bone scan scheduled for tomorrow, at the recommendation of the radiologist, to confirm that these really are hemangiomas, and not some other type tumor. I am busy trying to get smarter about hemangiomas.

I am feeling pretty discouraged at this point. The doctors keep telling me to take narcotic pain meds to help with that, but I took those for quite a few months after my 2nd ACDF, and really don't want to get that started again. I can no longer remember my last pain-free day.

Wish me some good luck, that I don't have some type of bone cancer going on.

    Hello Bob,

I am sorry to hear of your difficulties and your constant pain issues.

Chronic pain can really affect the mind after a long time. I am new in this board but I just wanted to reach out and give you some support.

I do not like narcotic pain meds either and there ar many other options out there.
I also live with a certain level of chronic pain, at this time it does not warrant any narcotic pain meds. I do have a recent injury to my neck and if that pain gets to be to much I can take something if nothing else works first.

Anyway...I do wish you well with the bone scan....let us know how that goes...Chrissy

    Hi Bob,
Its me Sue, your old buddy. I am sorry to hear you are going thru all of this. I am sending good thoughts your way, especially with regards to your bone scan today. Please let us know, when you know. I can understand why the narcotic route would not be appealing, esp. since you have gone that route before. Are you seeing a Pain Specialist? Hope to hear from youo real soon, Bob.
