Short Spinal Cord & Congenital Kyphosis

My daughter who is 9 has just been diagnosed with a Congenital Kyphosis and surgery is the only option. Her angles are at 35 and 58 degrees dependingo on which section. Upon having an MRI done after finding out about the Congenital Kyphosis they found she also has a very short spinal cord. Does anyone have any knowledge in this area to help us. We do not see the Neurosurgeon until the end of June about the spinal cord.
Any info on short spinal cord or Congenital Kyphosis would be helpful.

Re: Short Spinal Cord & Congenital Kyphosis

scrappinggal - Ihave sever kyphosis and I told my n.s. that my daughter has been complaining of neck pain for two years. she is 9. he laughed. I'm wondering if I should have her checked. who took you seriously? a pediatrician? how did you get someone to look at her neck? I asked if it was hereditary and I got a blank stare and then a 'no'. any advise is well appreciated.
