posterior osteophyte

my report says there is some degenerative of my cervical spine most marked at C2/C3,C3/C4,C5/C6 and C6/C7.The degree of the degenerative change is mild and there is good preservation of disc space, however, there is posterior osteophyte formation at C2/C3 and C3/C4 and there is mild interior osteophyte formation at C5/C6 and to a lesser extent C6/C7.There is also some degenerative change at the newer central joints at C3/C4 and C4/C5.No other significant abnormality seen. What i want to know is I never had a problem with my neck until I was in a crash three and a half years ago and since then I have suffered with pains in my neck.Could the crash be the cause of the damage and how bad does the report sound and if possible have you any idea how bad is my neck and spine likely to get i,m 38 years old thank you.
