    Upper back pain

I have been having upper back pain between shoulder blades for a while now. My chest hurts also. I can feel sometimes in my left upper arm pains then it may be my right. I have touch and go pains around my knees and feet - I am debating on going to the doctor - I get tired of the run around from them. Does anybody know what it sounds like?

Your post has been moved to the correct message board. The upper back/cervical spine issues should be addressed onthe spinal cord disorders message board and the lower back/lumbar spine issues should be addressed on the back problems board.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

Lavender, Sure sounds like you have some spinal issues. You really need to have a doc order an MRI. I get the same thing in the upper back & chest, shoulder arm. Dont let it go, I learned the hard way to do so can cause chronic pain for the rest of your life. The C & T spine cause those types of pain. I am going for some injections in the T area to see if it will help the chest pain next week & have had some in the C area. I would bet with an MRI you would find your answers. Good luck Sammy

well I went to the doctor - they did a back x-ray - she came in and said has anyone ever told you that you had scoliosis. I said no - well anyway I'm 51 years old - never been told that before - I asked if that could make your back hurt and chest hurt - well it could maybe since it's out of alignment she said. Anyway they did blood work - for tick disease - tick bite early June - but the blood work then was negative - also did blood work today for joints? Anyway here I sit with the usual pain. She prescribed Ibuprohen 800 mgs.

    Re: Upper back pain

I second that, you cant stay in pain. I would request the MRI to. Its your body & your the one in pain. I am this bad because it was let go & misdiagnosed & trust me if I could go back I would have been much more persistent. They will eventually end up having to do the MRI anyway. Then thing is sometimes GPs or PCPs will have you go to another specialist for that to be ordered & that can take some time just getting in. Good luck, Let us know how it goes. I feel for you, I am miserable & dont know anymore what its like to have no pain & I hate to see anyone join that club. Sammy

    Hi BRITEEYES22:

Hi there! Do you have a copy of your MRI report and if so, would you mind putting it here so we can read it? I too am going through the exact same thing as you. I'm going for my 2nd epidural in neck on MOnday. I too have a herniated C6/C7 that is impinging the spinal cord. He says I should have 3 epidurals, then he'll refer me to a neurosurgeon. Here is what mine says:

**MRI Cervical Spine without Contrast. The vertebrae are normally aligned. Stature of the vertebral bodies is maintained. Spinal cord is of normal morphology with exception of ventral impression on the cord in the left paramedian location at C6-7 secondary to moderate protrusion of the nucleus pulposus. There is no evidence of tonsillar herniation, and the foramen magnum is normal in appearance. There is mild/moderate broad-based bulging in the disk/endplate complex at C5-6, but this finding does not cause impression on the spinal cord, there is no spinal or foraminal stenosis at this level.

Impression: Significant protrusion of the nucleus pulposus at C6-7, finding is positioned in the left paramedian location and causes mild ventral impression on the spinal cord. It is also possible that this finding may impinge the traversing left C8 root. Otherwise unremarkable MRI of the cervical spine.
