Re: does anyone have a child with tethered spinal cord

    hi amy,

i just logged on and saw that noone has come back to you. i have had a fusion and have a hideously narrow spinal canal, they were concerned that my chord was tethered in the first instance, and i my general understanding is that it can impact on the way a surgeon might operate procedurally, and how s/he might prepare someone for an operation.

also if the chord is tethered to the canal it may effect how well the spinal chord is actually working.

i hope this very general information may help and that your little one is ok. GB

Consider evaluation for chiari malformation as well as sometimes the tethered cord and chiari can occur together.

Hi Amy. I had a tethered cord as a child (now corrected). In total I have had 7 surgeries related to my spine and feet.
