2 week postop 2 level acdf

Just wanted to say hi and thank everyone for this board. I read it extensively before surgery. It has been very helpful.

I have to admit the first week was rough but it is getting much better. I was very unhappy with the pain control I was given in the hospital and what I was sent home with. I guess I thought I would at least have a morphine pump initially but that was not the case. Luckily I had some left over vicodin at home because they sent me home with only 40 norco 5/325 did not work and also gave me a headache. 2 weeks out I am down to 2 pain pills when I first wake up and that usually holds me the rest of the day.
I did forget to ask the Dr. what I can take for headaches and mild pain hate to use the vicodin for that but have read ibuprofen is a no no. Any suggestions would be welcome.
On a side note as I was coming home from my first week check up we were rear ended while sitting at a stop light. My surgeon didn't think it was necessary for an x-ray but after thinking it over for insurance purposes I contacted my family dr. and they ordered a ct scan just to be safe. Should get the results of those tomorrow at my check up with family Dr. I definatly felt the jolt when we were rear ended. The other driver did have insurance thank god (not sure how since she did not speak english or have a drivers license, how do you get insurance without a drivers license? Guess driving records don't matter as much as credit score when you get car insurance)
I have a spinalpak II stimulator, it is very small but I have to wear it 24/7 which is kind of annoying but if it works great, also have the miami J collar man it is hot but I am adjusting fingers crossed this all works because I won't do this again.
Thanks for listening and thanks for all the good posts will continue to visit often.

I think you were smart to get the CT. Just to be on the safe side. I'm in an Aspen collar right now and I can't stand to go outside when it is really hot or muggy. I have to keep reminding my husband that it is about 10 degrees hotter for me because it is like I am wearing a huge winter scarf. I just sweat right through the pads and then I am washing them ten times a day. Thanks for giving us an update.
