    Neck Bulging Disc C5-6 C6-7......

and artthritis in my neck. I have very bad pain sometimes in my left bottom jaw, left side of neck and where the head and neck comes together to bend also on left side it seems this is where most/all of my pain is. Also when I bend over and stand back up there is so much pressure in my head with shooting pain. Does anyone else have these symptons with there neck problem??? Dr has me taking neurontin 300MG twice a day. After taking the neurontin they cut the pain at first but seems to wear off fast. I also have lortab 5/500 that I can take three times a day but it doesnt help the pain at all.

Have you had a consultation with an orthopedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon?

It may be time to move forward with seeing an orthopedic spine surgeon or neurosurgeon to get you condition and symptoms fully evaluated.

I agree I need to do something soon but was wondering if anyone else was having some of the same symptoms or if I have something else going on besides the arthritis and bulging disc

hello teri904. I have similiar symptoms. I also have bulging disks in my neck cause been in a car accident. my left side of the neck hurts 24/7 badly. can't even describe. I don't turn my neck at all cause of the severe pain I'm in 24/7
did they check for tmj???. I also take neurontin and percocet.
I wonder if you have had a whiplash also?.

Sounds like lortab is not enough, you should increase the dose or take oxycontin? consult your doctor. let me know what your doctor told you. thanks and sory to hear about your suffering.

p.s, I was also told I'm "fine", cause my MRI showed only 2 bulging disks, that's all.

    Hi Nochange,

Thank you for your reply. Last week I had been hurting so bad I finally gave up and called my family dr. and made an appointment wanted to see if he thought where the pain was was from the bugling disc's and the arthritis or did he think it was something else going on. He told me that the bugling disc with the arthritis would cause that pain.
He up my neurontin from 600mg a day to 1200mg., gave me a RX for some mild muscle relaxers and start me on PT starting Tuesday. At least my MD dr. do more for me then my Neurologist did and to see him was an hour and a half drive one way, an hour to see him, then spends 10 minutes with you
Yes, I was checked by two drs for TMJ both said that I didn't have it. I didn't have a whiplash, I am pretty sure I cause the bugling disc's when placing flagstone around my koi pond earlier this spring that is when the pain started. Not to sure about the PT but I am at the point I will try anything.
Is your pain worse when bending over to do something then standing back up

Re: Neck Bulging Disc C5-6 C6-7......

    Hi Teri,
I have bulging discs in my c-spine also. I read your thread and I would like to share a few things I have learned over the past 3-4 years.

Is there a specialty spine clinic near you?. I read about physiatrists and then went out and found one. They are experts in pain mngmt. and rehabilitation. They see a lot of necks. My family doctor tried to fix me for a few months and then admitted he was not a specialist and could do no more for me.

I should have taken it easier on my neck the first year and a half or so. I tried way too hard to strengthen my muscles and I think I went overboard on stretching and range of motion exercises. I should have rested, got a desk job, and treated my neck like glass.

The best med. combo so far has been a combination of: Tramadol/neurontin/nortriptyline/flexeril. It has been the most successful for me, but nothing stops the pain completely when it decides to start. I went 4 months w/o meds to see if my body would adjust or something but I ended up not being able to get out of bed except for occasional shower, food, restroom.

My pain is mainly the back of my neck radiating into exploding headaches. Not so much one side or the other. I also have extreme arm and upper back pain. It is level 9-10 for me. Any lifting over 5 lbs or so and I go fetal for a couple of days.

Last, I don't mean to scare you or anything, but I have read that the longer the body feels extreme pain the less the chances are of ever getting rid of it completely. Brings me back to the start. I should have taken it easy until no pain for 6-8 weeks.

Take care and please keep us posted, matt

No, I don't know why but wished I did I'm so tired of all this. Today was my third visit to Physical Therapy he had me to lay on my stomach with the head of the table downward I told him I didn't know if I could lay like that as that is what gets my neck going the pressure when standing back up. Guess what it did as I was getting back up pain/ pressure started shooting through my head. He thinks it may have something to do with my blood pressure.

physical therapist and chiropractors cannot do anything to fix neck pain. once it's injured there is nothing to be done. I'm also sick with it. imagine living the rest of your life like that. how old are you if I may ask?.
