    Throat/Neck Discomfort related to spine?

I would like another opinion if anyone has ever hear of anything like this. Could this be related to straining the muscles in the neck (working at a job with bad ergonomics for a year - turning my head too much being blind in one eye) or something worse than that.

I posted this in another forum and was given a web page about an inflamed vertebrae which I never heard of before. How does one acquire that problem? Like what types of symptoms lead up to that. This came on me all of a sudden - like one day I didn't have it and the next day I did.

Here is what has been going on.

I found this thread on the old message boards and wondered if anyone else has had this problem.
In october I started to get a spasm in the back of my throat. I thought it was my sinuses. The next day, I had some discomfort on the sides of my neck. That monday I tried to wear a turtleneck (now I've always worn tight turtlenecks before) and I felt like something was choking me. The feeling got worse and it felt like something was in the front of my neck when I touched it and at the front base of my neck where my head and neck meet. A feeling like someone's hand was there. I don't have any trouble swallowing.

This went on for months (and is still going on) to the point of where I couldn't/can't wear anything that was touching the neck on the sides.

I was diagnosed with mono in January but this discomfort still hasn't gone away (after 4 months). It bothers me when I touch the front of my neck (around my vocal chords) and when I bend my neck back or try to touch my chin to my chest. I also still can't have anything touching my neck since it's so sensitive.
I also can't turn my head from side to side without the feeling in the front being irritated.

I went for a sonogram last wednesday and nothing was found near the thyroid or my voice box. The test was horrible since the technician had to press that instrument on the front part of my neck that's irritated.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm seeind a neck specialist next week. What should I ask him about this? I went to an ENT who ignored this complaint for 3 months. Passed it off as sinuses and I needed food allergy testing(????). Also he never notated that I had an infection on my tonsils in October that was treated on 4 different occasions with antibiotics or prednisone.

I have never had any injuries to my spine or had any surgeries in my neck or throat.

My last big treatments were in June 2000 with dental work and a root canal.

    Thanks so much.
