Good luck on your surgery Davy!!!

Just wanted to say and wish you the best of luck on your surgery this coming week! These boards have been so good to me throughout my whole surgery process, its nice to see so many nice people.... I start PT tomorrow so hopefully that will go good. I go back to work light duty Thursday and am looking very forward to that. I cant take laying around watching tv all day and sleeping all the time! I cant remember what kind of surgery you were having was it lower or upper back? Mine was L4-L5 with the Brantigan Cages and pedicale screws and rods. I havr had an awesome recovery and cant complain about anything! It has been so easy for me and I wish the same for you! Take care...

Hey Davy,

Good Luck on you surgery. When rhey ask what procedure you are ther for? You answer a "Penis Reduction" See if you get a smile. They may say to you "No your hear for spine surgery" You say "Yes, I am but, the Penis Reduction is to keep it from reoccurring."

Just take it easy and don't push things to hard. When you get up to walk around be sure to keep you legs steady . Falling could mess things up. I remember when I got home from my Cervical surgery the first thing I did was almost fall down a flight of stairs. That's when the cane came out. Since fusions take anywhere from 1 year to 2 years to properly heal I think I will have a cane for a while yet. Just tell your wife in bed she will have to be in control for once and the doctor said the more you two "do it" the quicker you'll recover. The release of stress is very beneficial. Should that line work tell me and I will try it on my wife when the plumbing gets working again.

Remember you have nothing to lose but a pain in the neck!!!
[This message has been edited by OLIVER-DOVE (edited 07-31-2002).]

Hi Davy,

Me too. Thinking about you. Wishing you well. I like the idea of the penis reduction!!! Ha Ha. Must try that out. Say very seriously to people here that husband has to go into surgery for a Penis Reduction... (I had a knee - daughter had an elbow - sister had a uterus so a penis just seems...) I can imagine their faces. Here, we're down the country, Lower Normandy. Yves is helping this serious serious guy put insulation in the roof (it was destroyed by weasels during winter) and I go out and say that. Or - Perhaps I might ought to say I myself should go for a Penis Reduction!!! That would really get them on their toes. Look at us both with great respect. Oh - that explains a lot, some might say.

Davy! Hugs. Love. Bon Courage to Elaine. And what about us all having a limp around my large terrain here in Lower Normandy at some possible date??? We could collectively show off our reductions, drink some wine and eat ourselves silly!!! We'd do som roast surgeon. (Or did I mean sturgen???))

I'll be thinking of you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Candy,

Thank you for your wishes and I hope everything goes well with you PT tomorrow. My surgery is ACDF 2 or 3 levels on the 6/7th August. Please take it easy when you start back.

Oliver

What can I say!!! You are a scream
I will most certainly remember that one.
Whilst I was away in Menorca I bought a cane just to be on the safe side.
Thanks for the additional advice.

Berenice,

How is your knee and your daughters hand??? Truly hope that you both have recovered!
Penis Reduction: When they ask how much it has to be reduced I will say by 4 inches, which will still leave me with eight,AYE RIGHT Ha ha Dream on!!!!!

I would love to pop over to compare and have a limp about Normandy, won't be helping Yves with the insulation tho! Would also eat some surgeon, yours most definately, not mine,I hope?
Berenice my friend, look after yourself and will mail you on my return. Incidentely, Elaine has managed to get her trainers back on today. She has over the last two day's managed to pick five stitches/sutures out of her feet. That was after the nurse had been and supposedly taken them all out.
I know her: She's getting prepared to drive for visiting, can't tell her to take it easy, won't listen,
What woman does!!!!

Bee,
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, they mean a lot to me!! Please see above regarding Elaine,we are fighters in this Clan!
She has also taken it upon herself to overcome her techno phobia and learn how to operate the computer and to post whilst I am away, with the help of our eleven year old Son,Ryan...

Thank you all for your friendship and support,

Hi Davy,
Thank you for the encouragement on my surgery. Posterior Foraminatomy C4-7.
I also want to send you my best wishes for a speedy recovery. I had a ACDF C5-7. That went well it was my breathing that gave me a problem cause of the asthma. I have titanium cages at both levels and they are healing well. Had that surgery 9/7/02. Now my neuro has to fix the stenosis in the back. Just do what the doc says, don't take your collar off only to let someone wash your neck and right back on and take it real easy.
I know you will do good. I will keep you in my prayers.
Mary

Davy, I can't let you go into surgery without adding my wishes for your speedy recovery and a successful surgery. It will soon be Elaine's turn to hobble around and watch out for you.

Best wishes on the operation, and come back as soon as you're up for it. We can always use your high spirits here!

Rest assured many of us will be holding you in our thoughts as your surgery nears.

Hi Nanner,

Thank you so much. Elaine has, over the past few day's, managed to get her trainers back on, although she is still uncomfortable.Like I said in a previous post, I know what she is up too. She's getting ready to drive for visiting.Told her to take it easy, but when does a Woman listen to a Man,right!!!

Anyway Nanner, you look after yourself and I will be in touch soon after operation, when able.
Oh almost forgot.Elaine is logging in and getting used to the computer, think I will ask if she can post a reply on this post tonight.

Hi Davy,

I wish you lots of luck on your surgery. I'll be thinking about, I'll be turning 42 on August 7th so I'll tip one in your honor. I had a 2 level ACDF with plate on April 23rd and I'm feeling great now. The first day or so is a little rough and then you'll see improvement everyday. I bet you can wait to get this over.

I wish you well and I hope all your pain goes away.
Hugs,
Leo

Re: Good luck on your surgery Davy!!!

Hi Davy,

I've been around and I've been replying to a few posts. I do check the boards daily to see how everyone is doing. I spend less time on the computer now that I'm feeling better. Its nice to get back to my normal life. I'm looking forward to my vacation to Vancouver in Sept. It'll be the first time I've traveled since my operation. I've been very lucky that work has been slow. I usually travel 2 to 3 times a month on business.

You'll be in my thoughts,
Leo
