Re: Is a TENS unit Safe on the Neck?

I would check with a physical therapist or physiatrist prior to using a TENS unit on your neck to block pain. No one has ever even suggested it to me so I am wondering.

Thanks. I have heard it suggested that a Tens not be put directly on the spine, but I'm not sure if that applies to the neck or not.

Re: Is a TENS unit Safe on the Neck?

Hello, I used a Tens Machine prior to my ACDF all the time, but since surgery my PT says I can no longer use Tens due to the titanium plate and screws, so I just use my Tens for my lower back issues. Did you try googling at all?

Thanks Bunz....you just answered my question as to why no one offered it to me...too much titanium! I used TENS for my knees prior to surgery but not after and I never asked why. DUH!

    Makes a ton of sense!

    hugs to you.................Jen

I used a Tens on my lower back after my titanium instrumentation. Didn't know I shouldn't. What is the danger?

Hello freedog, I am not sure of any danger, my PT just told me that the electrical pads are not to on your plate, he has put the electros futher down my neck area but not directly on my plate. I will ask him Wed when I go to see him.
