Thumbs up ACF Complete!

For the past 2-3 weeks not only was I having neck/upper back pain but I started with burning, tingling, shock-feeling down my left arm. In addition, my ring and little fingers on my left hand were numb. That pretty much left me with no choice whether or not to have this surgery. Had it done Monday morning (May 6) and I wanted to post my experiences on this board because I know when I was trying to decide if I should go through with it, I checked this board for others' experiences.

I had C3-4 and C4-5 fusions with shaving of bone spurs that were encroaching into the spinal cord. Surgery took about 3 hours and post op I had a PCA pump with an overnight stay. I got up and walked a few steps about 4 hours after surgery and am wearing a hard collar "for comfort". I am home now and my biggest complaint is my throat- very sore, almost like how it feels when you have strep. I am very encouraged that I will be able to return to work in 2 weeks- one of my bigger concerns prior to surgery. The greatest thing though is..... NO numbness or tingling in my left arm!

Re: ACF Complete!

Yes- Tuesday afternoon. Have to tell you though- yesterday (Wednesday) was far worse than Tuesday was. Don't know if I just had a lot of left over narcotics in my system on Tuesday, but yesterday I did feel a little like being hit by a truck lol I do feel much better today but I still have difficulty with swallowing. Anyone else have this problem?

Re: ACF Complete!

May be a matter of how well they put the tube down. Sometimes they do it well, sometimes not so well...
