What to do when Diagnosed with Haemangioma in Vertebral Body

A recent MRI Diagnoses: Haemangioma is seen in L4/5 Vertebral Body. I don't know how big they are or who I should see in regards to the diagnoses. My GP didn't mention them when I saw him for the MRI result, not sure where I go from here? how serious can this be ?

Re: What to do when Diagnosed with Haemangioma in Vertebral Body

I too have one in my L1 area... From what I have researched it isn't anything to be worried about.... It appears to be like a birthmark in your vertebrae itself.

Just "Google" it & you can find out a lot from it. I can say that from what I have read it is more common in females and tend to have multiple instead of a single one like you & I have. Believe me I too am worried, but have yet to find much about them other than what I have listed for you.

Also if you have a copy of your MRI you can open it up & see it as well.
Mine I found it pretty easily & looks like a "White Spot" on the vertebrae itself.
Read up on it like I said.

Thank you Roadiez for your reply, yes I will do more google research on this subject & I was able to view my MRI CD once I downloaded a programme that enabled me to do so but not sure I found tumors. I appreciate your help. Best wishes.

Re: What to do when Diagnosed with Haemangioma in Vertebral Body

Do you know if the "Hemangiomas" is benign? or Symptomatic? That is causing you actual complications.
Also from what I see there is different types of H's...
Hope you do find out some more information. I will do a little bit more research & try to help you if I can. Thus far I see that at age 40 & above is when it becomes more involved in causing complications. It seems that more women have them than males, and so on.

Re: What to do when Diagnosed with Haemangioma in Vertebral Body

As my GP did not mention them, there has been no follow up or referral, so I have no idea if they are benign or Symptomatic??? & I am 64 ... thank you for your help.

Re: What to do when Diagnosed with Haemangioma in Vertebral Body

Most of these are "Benign".... Meaning nothing to worry & not intruding in on the spinal canal.
But if you are having symptoms in you lower back area I would ask your GP to maybe take a closer look at them for you.

I was told by my Dr that he would make a phone call to see if it is worth a second opinion ? so I am none the wiser at this point in time.
