Bit confused by MRI findings

I have had on going arm pain, in both arms, like hitting your funny bone, wrist pain, numbness and pain in fingers especially little finger and thumb. Also they feel weak, Pain between shoulder blades, more recently some pains in both big toes, saw gp who spoke to neurologist who thought it sounded like a herniated disc, had MRI scan which just should some slight bone spurs on c5-6 but no nerve involvement or narrowing anywhere, so what can be causing this awful nerve pain and weakness ????

Re: Bit confused by MRI findings

My first impression of your symptoms is that they don't SEEM like anything caused by a cervical spinal problem. Your symptoms are just too selective. For one thing, the C6 nerve goes to your thumb, while the C8 goes to your little finger. Unusual for those two to be affected without also the C7 (index and middle fingers) being affected. Add in your big toes, and it all becomes even more unlikely. Not impossible, but unlikely.

Also, as you know, a herniated disk would be obvious in an MRI. If they don't see it, it's not there.

I wonder if your problems - particularly those in the upper back - may be related either to some physical activity, or even to a long-practiced sitting posture? Or that your symptoms actually have two or more unrelated causes?
